Who Could Resist This All Time Classic August 26, 2008 There Is No Age Limit For This Heart Warming Comedy Series...Jeannie & Tony And The Other Cast Members...Take You To Their World Of Enchantment This Is A DVD Must ...Get All 5 Seasons You Won't Be Disappointed...
Fun show! August 23, 2008 This is the final season of Jeannie. The hijinx continue and the spark is still there for this season. And Tony comes to his senses and marries Jeannie. Although Tony and Roger are still the same characters, Jeannie actually continues her metamorphosis. By the third season (as I wrote in a review), Jeannie is no longer a secret character, but becomes a player in many scenes with other characters. In this season, she's in many more scenes as a major player, and dons her jeannie outfit just to remind us that she is a jeannie (a word of warning--Barbara Eden as a platinum blonde is absolutely gorgeous and seeing her in the attire of the times--mini skirts--could be dangerous for young males). Jeannie has even bought into Tony's fear of having anyone discover their secret. At the wedding scene, she seems more afraid of discovery than Tony. Well, this was the final season. Could it have gone on any longer? Well, maybe. The writers probably could have come up with other inane storylines, but now that Tony and Jeannie are married, they certainly would have had children. Comparisons with Bewitched would have become more acute. We were given a glimpse of what the show would have developed into in an earlier season when Tony wonders whether their kids would be normal or jeannies. They're jeannies, of course. It was nothing but Jeannie running around chasing her bratty kids. Thank goodness we were mercifully spared such nonsense. No, it was probably a good time for the show to end. One final thought on I Dream of Jeannie. Is there any value to this show, besides the simple entertainment value? Well, yes. Maybe it gives the viewer cause to reflect on is own nature. Tony is so unbelievably restrained in what he asks Jeannie to do. But the few times when Roger controls her, he sets himself up better than the Shah of Iran and he always suggests that he and/or Tony get the pleasures of the world beyond their wildest dreams. The question is "what would you do--show restraint and wisdom or become a selfish, unbridled hedonist?"
I Dream of Jeannie The Complete Fifth Season August 16, 2008 This is a great show and it was sent to me in a very timely manner
Great show! Episodes are NOT COMPLETE! July 19, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I love I Dream of Jeannie - always have, always will. I've faithfully been collecting all of the seasons and eagerly purchased the long-awaited final season. Imagine my dissappointment though to find that the episodes are missing scenes and are not complete. Several scenes I recall seeing when I was a kid and even in syndicated reruns are blatently missing here. Have to admit, I feel cheated. I still gave a 4-star review because of how much I love the show - but it should have been 5 stars and isn't because The makers of this DVD package didn't take care to give us the original-broadcast length episodes!
Last but not least July 10, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Most folk's buying this show already know what it's about... This review is of the release it's self.
The complete and final 24 show's for the fith and final season are packged here.
The set comes in two slim cases with two single sided disc's in each case, each case has a mini summary of each episode on the back .
The "extra's", arn't much , included are a Fantasy Island ( Rouges and Riches)episode and a Bewitched (Junior Executive )episode, I would much rather have had the bonsus's been about the show(as all the main cast -Hayden Rourke are still living).
Personally I really enjoyed watching these episodes, even though it was the last season the show still had plenty of "steam" for a few more seasons. Too bad non of the tv movies were included . The show can be heard in-Englih, Spanish,Portugese. Subtitles- Spanish and Portuges(English subtitles, you ask ? Nope...I though that was odd.
If you have season's 1-4 , season 5 should complete your "wish" to own this great show .
