| Customer Reviews:
Fun, safe haven for my little one November 22, 2008 I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants a safe place for their child to play while they are doing housework. It is square and provides more play area than the traditional rectangular pack 'n play. One of the unexpected perks was that my daughter taught herself how to pull herself up into a standing position in this playpen. Next thing I knew my husband was encouraging her to walk along the perimeter. That is one of her favorite games.
If you want to make this pack 'n play a success I have several recommendations. 1. Introduce your baby to it when they are young so they get used to its confines. We first began putting our daughter in it when she was 4 months old for 5 minutes a day. She is now 8 months and spends much longer periods playing in it. She also asks to be put into it. 2. Encourage your baby to explore the toys on the sides. My daughter loves grabbing and crinkling the wings. 3. Play with your baby while they are in the pack 'n play. We like peek a boo. 4. Have special playpen only toys. Also make sure they are soft so if they fall on them they can't be hurt. 5. Location, Location, Location. Ours is strategically located in our family room where she can see me while I work in the kitchen. It is also next to a window where she can enjoy the outside view. 6. DO NOT use this as a sleep area. This is a play area. You should have a separate sleep area. Don't confuse your child. 7. Attitude. If you view this playpen as a "trap" or "jail." You'll never use it. Remember, the purpose of the playpen is to provide your child a SAFE place to play when you are distracted.
Bright, fun, but not perfect November 22, 2008 I bought this play pen because it was the ONLY one I could find in bright colors (one more brown baby item and I'll scream).
PROS. Bright colors Fun activity toys included Large / room for kid to move Easy set up Compact storage Great safe place for daytime naps Great for outdoors - bright colors help keep track of its location Easy to move around once set up.
CONS. Heavy Trouble reaching center of pen. If you are under 5 foot 5 or are plus sized person you'll have a hard time reaching a child laying in this. Or in reaching the center tab to collapse it. I also have a hard time reaching toys in the middle (I'm 5 foot tall and my mother is under 5 foot and a plus size, but my tall buff husband has no problems).
best investment November 18, 2008 as a first time grandmother this was the best investment. very big. baby can move around and not feel confined. room for toys and snuggling. at least 50% bigger than usual play yards. totally worth the space it takes up and the price which is very reasonable. would also work for puppies. highly recommend.
Awesome Playard November 14, 2008 Bigger than average. Toys that can't be thrown from within are a plus. The mattress pad floor could be a little thicker. The "suspension" is rather hard if they take a tumble. But, space makes up for anything else I could complain about. Easy to set up. Really, easy!
Really great sleep/play yard but could have used washable floor cover or sheets November 13, 2008 We've had Pack'n Plays before with my older son and they were great for sleeping. But they really aren't big enough to play in--at least *I* felt like it was confining and thought my son would too. Now that I have another baby, I needed a safe place where he could play away from my older son's legos and little bits. This playard is big, colorful, folds up just as easily and compactly as the original Pack'n Play. Really like it. The only negative: there is no removable cover for the bottom. It's spot clean only. I do NOT know how they decided THAT was a good idea. I called Graco and asked if they at least make sheets that I could put over the bottom and they said no, but that they'd just had a staff meeting about it b/c so many parents were calling to ask. Well, DUH! Of COURSE it needs a washable/removable surface on the bottom. Do they think our babies don't spit up/pee/poo/drool/whatever?? Really dumb. Anyway, for those who are interested: I found a website where they will custom make sheets out of jersey (tshirt material) in almost any color and you just specify the size (38"x38"x2"). [...] They're not cheap ($25-30) but they last and, imo, they're worth it. Anyway, we like it.
