Product Description The Fuji Film FinePix S1000fd's 12x optical zoom lens expands your shooting reach, covering a remarkable focal range of 33-396mm, bringing you close enough to capture subtle expressions. The single built-in lens means you're always ready to shoot, with no need for bulky extra lenses or time-consuming lens changes. Picture Stabilization mode automatically sets the optimum shutter speed and sensitivity for each scene, preventing blur from camera shake or fast-moving subjects, even in low-light situations. Super Macro mode lets you move in as close as 2cm (0.8") making it easy to take high-impact full-frame close-ups. The Panorama Shooting Mode makes it easy to create impressive panoramic photos. This mode captures and combines up to 3 consecutive shots, which are saved to the memory card as a panoramic picture. The FinePix S1000fd automatically detects and corrects unsightly red-eye reflections that often spoil flash photos of people. A large, high resolution LCD with 230K Resolution makes it easy to compose great shots and to see photo details when you play back captured images. The high-resolution LCD can display up to 100 picture images simultaneously in 10x10 array. Use this micro thumbnail view to instantly select specific photos to view or print. A selection of tailored shooting modes provide ideal settings for everything from shutter speed and exposure to white balance. 1/2.3 CCD Sensor File format - JPEG (EXIF Ver 2.2) Aperture - F2.8 - F6.4 (Wide) / F5.0 - F8.0 (Telephoto), max 5 steps in 1/3 EV increment Shooting Modes - Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Museum, Party, Flower, Text, and PS (Picture Stabilization) Shutter speed - 1/4 second to 1/2000 second in Auto mode Self-timer - 10 seconds and 2 seconds delay Dimensions - Width 4.1 x Height 2.9 x Depth 2.7 (102.5x73x67.8mm) Weight - 11.5 ounces (325 grams)

Perfect Birthday Gift!! December 1, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Treated myself to this camera for 50th birthday and what a great gift!! This camera is awesome, easy to use, big enough to hold on to without being bulky, takes great shots - awesome zoom - is very user friendly, and has a wide assortment of settings - beach, flower and night settings are simply unbelievable!! I couldn't be happier!! If I knew how to post a picture, I would!!! I found a new cool feature everytime I used it. Talked to lots of knowledgeable people and did quite a bit of research on digital cameras before this purchase and am very, very happy I decided on this one. Price was very competitive too!!! Would highly recommend to beginner or seasoned photographer without reservation.
Excellent For Work & Play! December 1, 2008 This camera goes with me to work everyday; taking photos of construction sites and home inspections. It also went with us last month on our 15th Wedding Anniversary to Maui, Hawaii. We took hundreds of pictures!! Sunrises from a cold volcano peak, sunsets from the beach, and full moons setting on the ocean. Even the night time views from our balcony... without a tripod. And, the price is right!!!!! -Lawrence, Detroit
Very disappointed November 30, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
We had a Fujifilm s5000 and got wondeful pictures of our two kids, the only reason to upgrade was the 3 megapixel resolution.
We decided to give the s5000 as a gift to my brother and purchase the new one s1000fd: we had never taken a picture even comparable to the quality of the old one (both in AUTO mode)!
Now I don't know even how to ask to my brother to give the s5000 back...
We have just decided to replace it with a different one, 3 months of pictures of our kids not a top level quality are enough.

Fuji Finepix digital camera November 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a Christmas Gift and has not yet been used, but I have and older one that is only 10X optical and is a wonderful camera for the price.
Good enough for the price November 24, 2008 If you like the style of the traditional cameras (and not the usual small "cigarette-box" size) or just don't want to spend a lot on a professional device, this is right for you. Enjoy the great quality from a known brand (Fuji), take pictures in many customized formats or record your own videos with sound. This is my 3rd Fuji camera and they keep on doing things better everyday.
