M. Logsdon September 23, 2008 I have watched the video several times and planned to take Bobbi's class online. Wow! The video is full of great information especially if you are a beginner like me. Bobbi Lane keeps it very simple and easy to understand. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to take photographs using natural light.
Excellent. June 3, 2008 This is a great DVD for photographers at any level. Bobbi is not only an accomplished photographer, but an inspiring instructor as well.
This DVD is all about the fundamentals of using and modifying natural light. The examples setups are applicable to everyday situations (window light, diffusion in direct sun, using reflectors for fill, etc) and Bobbi's explanations are clear and concise. And the modifiers demonstrated in the DVD are basic and affordable - you could probably make most of them yourself.
I am a big fan of keeping it simple - but don't dismiss the simplicity of these lessons - these are the core techniques that you will build on and go back to again and again.
Bobbi Lane awarded Excellence in Education Award from Advertising Photographers of America October 8, 2007 We are proud to announce that bobbi has just been awarded the Excellence in Education Award from Advertising Photographers of America. A great award for a great teacher!
The Mistress of Light shares her secrets September 20, 2007 I took Bobbi Lane's Introduction to Portraits class at the Maine Media Workshops last summer and was blown away. I haven't learned so much in one week since I was cramming for the bar exam. This excellent DVD covers the material on natural light portraits from the workshop plus a little more. It reinforced what she taught us and added detail I did not grasp the first time around. The style of the DVD is informal, practical and easy to follow. It does presume a little bit of technical knowledge: for example, that you can use a light meter and know a soft box from your elbow. People who want to take great pictures of people will enjoy this very much. Highly recommended.
Bobbi Lane is a master teacher August 29, 2007 Bobbi Lane is a master photography teacher and her DVD brings a lot of that knowledge home. Clear explanations and examples as only Bobbi can do!
