Satisfied overall December 22, 2008 The product meets the objective of being able to make my external HDD shared across multiple computers (or within a small work group). It works well, but when it comes to bulk copying, it is pretty slow compared to a USB file transfer (perhaps because LAN is only 100 mbps as opposed to 480 mbps in USB 2.0). But I would not mind that, since I am doing a one-time copy of large collection of files. Volume of files in recurring usage is expected to be minimal.
My old Internal hard drive (3.5" IDE) worked well with this, but I had to format it since LAN drive needs to be in FAT32 format. Backing up the files and copying it back and forth was pretty time consuming, but a nice weekend time-pass during a heavy snow storm.
One thing that could have been better is the manual that came along with the product. I would consider this as a slightly advanced product (meant for techs), but if a novice or an intermediate user bought this, chances of screwing up the product is high in the light of a poorly compiled manual. Other than that, the product is great
