Totally addicted August 13, 2008 My wife and I have been buying and drinking this product for years. We've tried all the flavors but we both like the Vanilla best by far. The secret for making this (or any other flavor) into a delicious healthy shake is this:
Start with a decent blender that can crush ice cubes, or use the crushed ice option in your ice maker if it does that. Put 3 oz of crushed ice or ice cubes -- 5 cubes from MY refrigerator ice maker, yours may vary -- into the blender. If cubes, crush them first in the blender at high speed. Add 8 oz skim milk to the crushed ice and start blender. IMMEDIATELY add 1 measure of powder by sprinkling it in over several seconds. Blend only a few seconds more after you finish adding the powder, then pour and enjoy. [NB: Dumping the powder in all at once will often cause undissolved clumps to stick to the blender. Overblending will melt the ice and thicken the shake too much.]
The drink produced by this method will be frosty and delicious, like the best milkshake you've ever had.
Very good - here is my favorite recipie August 6, 2008 The powder is an aquired taste, because it isn't as sweet as you might think. But, I love it. I always feel really good after I have had a shake. It is low calorie, and makes a good afternoon snack or breakfast. The Chocolate flavor is my favorite. My Shake recipie is: 1 scoop of Chocolate Spiroteen, 2 cups of skim milk or soy milk, one peeled banana, 6 ice cubes, one teaspoon of instant coffee (optional) 1/4 cup of plain yogurt (optional). Mix in a blender until the ice is finely chopped. The instant coffee makes it taste like a mocha. The banana sweetens the drink and makes it as thick as a milk shake from a burger place. The ice makes it nice and cold.
Spiru-teilcious July 29, 2008 Nature's Plus - Spiru-Tein Strawberry Flavor, 2.4 lb powder
I love this product!!!I bought a small packet first and just love it and bought more!!!!
love it July 26, 2008 I drink a large glass of the chocolate powder with milk every morning. I love it. The stirring used to drive me crazy, as I used to try to break up every little clump. Now I think of the little clumps like the marshmallows in hot chocolate, and it doesn't bother me. I've tried similar powdered products from other brands, which mixed together better, but the taste was terrible. Spirutein's taste better than most milkshakes, and it's good for you.
a vegan's favorite June 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
(Attn vegans: It does contain bee "pollen"....) I have loved spirutein for a while now. Though, I have narrowed my selection down to : Chocolate, vanilla, and the cookies n' cream. They're amazing. I try to drink one a day to make sure I get enough protein(14 grams per scoop) and vitamins. It's quick and easy. Especially if you have a single-serve-blender. ( I highly recommend the Hamilton Beach version, best $17 I've ever spent) These spirutein powders need a blender, even though they say "just stir in." That's not happening. For best results combine: Spirutein powder, Milk or milk-alternative, and a thickener (ice-cream, banana, etc) and a couple cubes of ice is nice. Some flavors need a tbsp of sweetener. The choc. powder with a scoop of soy/rice vanilla ice cream and 8 oz. milk-substitute becomes the best Wendy's Frosty you've ever had. The vanilla powder with a banana, milk-subtitute, a tbsp of honey, ice and walnuts sprinkled on top is so delicious. Enjoy. And remember, protein is important if you want to keep your hair!
