This original, 1987 all-animated Chipmunk movie is a worldwide adventure featuring the Chipmunks, Chipettes, international crooks, various thugs, and a healthy dose of danger, natural disaster, famous scenery, and cute little animals. It all starts when Dave Seville leaves Alvin, Theodore, and Simon Chipmunk home under the care of Ms. Miller while he travels to Europe on business. Sore at being left behind, Alvin challenges Brittany from the Chipettes to the video game "Around the World" and his boast that he could beat her traveling around the world in a real hot air balloon is overheard by Claudia and Klaus, a pair of international crooks searching for an innocent courier to deliver a load of illegal diamonds to various places around the world. The crooks wager a million dollars on the Chipmunks and Chipettes to see who can race around the world the fastest, providing the hot air balloons, all necessary supplies, and the promise of $100,000 to the winner. Stalked by various thugs and encountering obstacles that range from hurricanes to snakes, tribes bent on worshiping and then sacrificing Alvin, and even a baby penguin that needs to be reunited with its parents in Antarctica, the Chipmunks and Chipettes sing their way around the globe, defeating villains that cross their paths and eventually learning the truth about the illegal cargo they're transporting. In the end, the Chipmunks and Chipettes combine forces in hopes of bringing Claudia and Klaus to justice while ensuring they all return home in one piece. This fantastical Chipmunk journey is suspenseful, funny, full of catchy music, and appropriate for ages 5 and older. Oh don't you know that we're off to see the world!!!!! January 6, 2009
MARVELOUS! A movie that your child will love from beginning to end, will leave you with your foot tapping, your mouth humming the tunes, and you NOT having a headache? Oh, what could be better! Definitely a huge fan of chipmunks, here, but this movie beats all episodes put together! I have always loved this. When I first became aware that it was on DVD I was floored. But, in my heart of hearts, the vhs is still my baby :)

Excellent movie for my grandchildren. The colors are vibrant and the music is splendid. We enjoy watching it with them. They spent one weekend watching over and over again.

What is there not to like about these adorable rodents with their cute high pitched voices. I originally ordered a CD of Alvin to show my daughter. I had precious memories of listening to Alvin in my childhood and wanted to continue the tradition. Amazingly, just after that, the movie of Alvin and the chipmunks came out at the cinema. My daughter was so excited! She proceeded to tell all her friends about Alvin, before the movie had even come out. An excellent gift for young ones (or those young at heart).

I watched this as a child, and was so excited to find here on Amazon for my kids. My children loved it and watched it twice the first day. (They are even boys!) The music is so cute and I love the storyline. This movie also comes with a CD of all the songs which is a nice bonus for trips in the car. Definately a must-have for every family!!

I've loved this movie since I was a little kid and I got it for my four younger siblings and they love it too. It's cute, funny, and not corny like most children's movies. The delivery was quick, the condition was perfect, the price was great. Brought back memories... :)
